About Villa Montessori

Our Mission

The Villa Montessori program is designed to enhance and guide each child’s spontaneous and natural desire to learn during the most sensitive years of life. The Villa Montessori program encourages independent, self-directed achievement, which develops self-confidence and a positive self-image.

Goals for Villa Students

Our primary goal is not only within the academic realm but to help each child reach his/her potential in all areas of development. Through our activities, and with specially designed material, we promote the development of social skills, emotional growth, physical coordination, as well as cognitive preparation. Cultural activities provide exposure to various concepts outside of practical life, sensorial, math, and language areas.

About The School

Villa Montessori School was founded by a group of parents from the University of Santa Clara and San Jose State University in 1964. The first Board of Directors was established, and Villa Montessori was incorporated as a non-profit in 1965. At that time, Villa had three different locations. In 1975, the school consolidated to one campus and moved to 20900 Stevens Creek Boulevard in Cupertino. In 2021, Villa moved to the West Valley Elementary School campus in Sunnyvale, and in 2024, moved to its current location at 10181 Finch Avenue in Cupertino.

Villa Montessori has served the community for nearly six decades, and its alumni have gone on to become successful contributors to society worldwide. Villa Montessori continues its commitment to education excellence. We at Villa make every effort to achieve the highest level of education and standards for the children we serve. We prepare students to be life-long learners and responsible citizens of the world community.

Villa Montessori is a non-profit, non-sectarian program that encourages independent, self-directed achievement. In turn this develops self-confidence and positive self-image for the child. Our school was established in 1964 and is affiliated with the North American Montessori Teachers Association and is a  "Full  Member School" with the American Montessori Society. Our Montessori credentialed teachers, together with parents of our students, form a closely bonded community. Our Montessori program focuses on strong fundamental academic preparation in language arts, science, mathematics, music and coordination.

Villa aims for a 1:8 teacher-to-student ratio, which is significantly better than the 1:12 ratio mandated by California Law. Our actual ratio varies, and, at times, goes slightly above our 1:8 target.

Villa provides a comprehensive education based on Montessori principles and methods. At Villa the staff works diligently to provide an ideal learning environment based on Montessori principles that will guide and nurture the full development of our students. Villa offers a rich and varied program for children ages 2 years and 5 months old until entry into the first grade.

All of us at Villa Montessori, our Staff, Board of Directors, and parents are working to provide a happy, fun, and productive educational experience for our students. We invite you to Contact Us and Schedule A Tour of our campus today.
